Is efficiency the opposite of humanity?

The reason robotics appeals to industries of all type is the theoretical reduction in profit loss due to reducing human error. But what do we lose when we reach “peak efficiency?” I suspect we become disconnected, and have a harder time maintaining brand loyalty with a customer that we can’t empathize with.

I find charm in imperfection and craftsmanship, wabi-sabi. Our products and environment should reflect our humanity, not obscure them.
